Recent updates: Theming, custom domains, archiving, sorting and more

Yesterday we released a big update chock full of stuff users have been asking for. Most are features that help Mocksup fit more seamlessly into your workflow. The rest are just things we’ve found ourselves wishing Mocksup could do!

New plan: “Max”

As we’ve grown over the last couple of months we found that two paid plans just wasn’t flexible enough for our broadening user base. For many, 10 projects (“Mini”) wasn’t enough but unlimited projects (“Mega”) was too much. So we’ve now made “Mega” the middle plan, which tops out at 50 projects, and “Max” is the new, unlimited plan.

We’ve also added two great new reasons to upgrade to these new plans: theming and custom subdomains.

Theming

Lots of users told us they wanted to be able to brand Mocksup with their own logo and colorscheme.

So now, if you have a “Mega” or “Max” account, you’ll see “Admin theming” in your account settings. It introduces a simple but powerful way for you to brand the Mocksup admin.

Admin theming

By uploading a logo and tweaking 6 main color values, you can quickly transform the look and feel of the Mocksup admin to better reflect your brand.

Custom subdomain

If you have a “Max” account, in addition to theming, you can set a custom subdomain. So now, instead of going to http://mocksup.com, you, your clients and co-workers can go to, say, http://mockups.yourdomain.com.

Just go to the “Custom subdomain” tab under “Account” and you’ll see the form along with detailed instructions for making the change.

Custom ordering of projects and mockups

Previously all projects were ordered by date and all mockups were ordered alphabetically.

So, if you wanted to have the “Homepage” mockup show up before the “About page” mockup, you had to do something hacky like name them “1) Homepage” and “2) About page”. And if you wanted to have an older, more important project show up before a newer, less important one — well, you were out of luck.

No more! Now you can order everything just as you’d like it by dragging and dropping both projects and mockups in several convenient places throughout the app.

Project archiving

Project archiving is for those projects that aren’t being actively worked on but also can’t yet be outright deleted. If it’s on the back-burner but you and your contributors still need to view — but not give feedback on — the mockups from time-to-time, then archiving is for you. If you go to “Project settings” you’ll see it under “Permissions & other settings”.

Archiving projects

Also, archived projects don’t count against your plan’s project limit, making it much easier to juggle all your projects without needing to worry about which ones you can delete.

Turning on and off link highlighting

When a contributor is viewing a mockup that has links, the links glow and faint yellow on hover to let the contributor know they can be clicked.

But if you’re using Mocksup to conduct user testing this can be too much information for the user. If you want to see if, say, the new position of the logout button is noticeable, highlighting it in yellow might skew your results just a little bit!

So, now if you go to “Permissions & other settings” under “Project settings” you’ll see the option to turn off link highlighting.

New homepage

And as if all that weren’t enough, we also tweaked the homepage!

Homepage before and after

Some new users were signing up straight from the homepage without a clear idea of what Mocksup actually did. So we simplified the message on the homepage, focusing on our core benefit, which stated simply is the ability to share your mockups quickly, easily and professionally.

Whew! If you have any questions about these new features or anything else at all Mocksup-related, don’t hesitate to contact us via our support page.
